Laser Lipolysis

Everyone knows that no matter how much you diet and exercise, there are always stubborn, localized pockets of fat that will not go away. Your reason for choosing liposuction may be as simple as just wanting to look better in your clothes. While liposuction is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle, it can make you look and feel better.

Dr. Serrao performing Laser LipolysisLaser Lipolysis (also known as Laser Assisted Lipolysis or Laser Lipo) refers to a group of procedures similar to liposuction in that they remove unwanted fat by use of a small tube, or cannula, inserted into the body and basically sucking the fat out. That's where the similarity ends - laser lipolysis uses a laser at the tip of the cannula to heat and melt the fat before suctioning it out. The lasers used are tissue specific so that they target only the fat cells leaving nerves and other tissues undamaged. Further, the strain on the body is so small that only local anesthesia is needed, rather than general anesthesia that's used with traditional liposuction. Laser lipolysis surgery is considered less invasive than liposuction and it requires less recovery time, with most patients able to return to work the following day.

We recommend laser lipolysis on smaller areas such as the neck and arms.  Many times Dr. Serrao will combine this method with other forms of liposuction on the body if he feels additional skin tightening may be necessary.

The consultation is of great importance and at the Aesthetic Clinique, we aim to answer all of your questions and get you fully prepared for the procedure during your one-on-one meeting with Dr. John Serrao and his cosmetic nurse, Larissa.

Your first lipo consultation will last about an hour and is complimentary.  You will be expected to give comprehensive information regarding past medical history and your current medical status. You will be asked detailed questions about the result you hope to achieve and, following an examination, Dr Serrao will give you a full assessment. This will include the likely outcome of the procedure as well as an explanation of the risks and benefits of the treatment. The doctor may also suggest alternative or adjunctive therapies if required and will advise you about weight control, diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes that he feels you may need to make.

You may chose to schedule the procedure at the time of your initial consultation, or you may decide at a later time.  Whatever your decision, it will be our pleasure to assist you in any way that we can.
